Known issues in the new version of PowerSchool
Posted on 08/05/2019

The IT Division is aware of a few problems in the new version of PowerSchool (19.4.2). Details about these problems are provided below. We apologize for the inconvenience and will be working with PowerSchool Support on resolving these problems as soon as possible.

Problem 1: "Security Violation" error may appear for some users

The following error may appear when using certain pages within PowerSchool:

Alert: Security Violation
java.lang.SecurityException: No access to student_dcid

The error shown above may appear when using the following areas of PowerSchool. If you encounter this problem, please send an email to Julie Schmidt at [email protected] for assistance.

  • District Student Search - The "security violation" error may appear when selecting the Student Number from the list of students returned by your search. The error may also appear when attempting to transfer students to your school.
  • District Staff Search - The "security violation" error may appear when attempting to transfer staff to your school.

Additional changes will be made in the near future to assist with resolving this issue. Once the problem is resolved, a separate announcement will be sent to schools and district staff.

Problem 2: Repeated Course Grade Suppression page gets stuck "Loading"

The Repeated Course Grade Suppression page, under System Setup, is not working correctly. When attempting to process grade suppression for a group of students, the "Loading" dialog appears but does not close and students are not processed. The IT Division is working with PowerSchool Support to resolve this issue. Once the problem is resolved, a separate announcement will be sent to schools and district staff.
