Welcome back to a new school year!

To support a smooth start to the 2025-26 school year, our IT training team has developed a comprehensive Opening of School Guide for Power Users. This resource offers helpful reminders and streamlined steps for key tasks before and after the first day of school.

  • Training: Sessions are available for PowerSchool Enrollment, Attendance, Parent Portal, and Scheduling Labs. Visit Professional Learning to register.

  • Transferring Active Students: The window to transfer active students is now open. The final day to process transfers is Friday, August 15, 2025. Once the school year has started and attendance is recorded, you MUST contact the student’s previous school to complete the transfer process. Refer to the Enrollment Handbook for detailed instructions.

  • Online Student Enrollment (InfoSnap): Monitor the submission workspace in InfoSnap regularly and collaborate with families to ensure timely processing. Applications must be delivered to PowerSchool and enrollment finalized. For step-by-step guidance, consult the Online Student Enrollment Handbook.

  • Preventing Duplicate Student IDs: Before enrolling a student, use the District Students Search to check for prior enrollment in any San Diego Unified school. DO NOT create a duplicate ID. Refer to the Preventing Duplicate Student IDs job aid for more information. If a duplicate ID is detected or accidentally created, please submit a Freshservice case for resolution.

  • Enrollment Forms: All updates submitted by parents/guardians via the 2025–26 Enrollment Verification Form must be entered into PowerSchool prior to September 30, 2025. Maintaining accurate student demographic data is essential for effective communication. Ensure all required fields are completed, including opt-out options, consent, and yes/no responses.

  • Parent Portal Access: Schools can run the Portal Access for Parents and Students report to identify which users have access enabled. To run this report, under Reports on the left-side menu, select sqlReports, and then expand the group of Parent/Student Portal. For setup instructions, refer to the Parent and Student Portal Administration Handbook.

  • Bell Schedules and Calendars: Confirm that your Bell Schedules align with your school's official start and end times and accurately reflect the instructional minutes submitted to Pupil Accounting. Bell Schedules and Calendar entries will be locked after August 25, 2025. Sites starting before August 11, 2025, will have an earlier cutoff.

  • LCFF Alternate Income Form: All schools are REQUIRED to collect LCFF Forms for every student, preferably through the Parent Portal. Use the LCFF Form Information report under sqlReports, Parent/Student Portal group to track submissions.

  • PowerSchool Permissions: REMINDER! Schools are responsible for managing PowerSchool access. Ensure access is current and remove staff, substitutes, or teachers no longer at your site. Visit the PowerSchool Handbooks, Job Aids and Videos link at the bottom of the PowerSchool Start Page, then select System Administration for more information.
