Next Year Information
Posted on 10/21/2024 at 08:40

The IT department completed the process to update PowerSchool for the 2025-26 school year over the weekend of October 18, 2024. The process articulated students to their next-year schools based on current school and grade level, and enables PowerScheduler and enrollment for the 2025-26 school year. This email contains important information to assist schools in identifying where students will be attending next year and provides specific directions on properly enrolling students in PowerSchool. Please share this information with other appropriate staff to ensure students are enrolled correctly for next year.

Reports for Next Year

The following reports provide information regarding where students will be enrolled next year and their grade levels. Run these reports periodically and up to the end of the school year to ensure students’ next grade and next school are correctly set. To run these reports, select sqlReports on the left-side menu, then expand the group of Enrollment reports:

  • Next Year All Students – Shows all students identified to attend your school next year (continuing or new students)

  • Next Year Incoming Students – Shows all new (incoming) students who will be attending your school next year

  • Next Year Outgoing Students – Shows all students who will be attending a different school next year (outgoing students)

  • Students Who May Be Missing Next School – Shows students where we may not know where the student will be attending next year.

General Rules for Enrolling, Transfer Out and Editing Student Enrollments

  • Always start by verifying that you are in the correct term year

Double-check the “Term” in the upper, right-hand corner of your PowerSchool page. Do not have multiple tabs open with different term years on each tab when processing enrollments.

  • If the Term in the upper, right-hand corner is the 24-25 school year, your dates must be within the 2024-25 school year.

  • If the Term in the upper, right-hand corner is the 25-26 school year, your dates must be within the 2025-26 school year.

  • DO NOT Transfer Out/Drop students to Pre-Register for next year:

In July, active students will automatically enroll for 2025-26 during the “End-of-Year Process.” The next school and next grade define where a student is placed for next year. Unless a student is inactive and not currently attending, please DO NOT exit active students and re-enroll students into school to pre-register for next year.

  • For students actively enrolled at another school in the current school year:

To enroll a student “for next year” who is actively enrolled at another school, you will need to change the Next School and Next Grade Level. Select the District Student Search tab from the start page to search for the student you need to change, make any necessary changes to the Next School and Next Grade Level, and enter the reason. Please note that these students' demographic data will be inaccessible until after the End-of-Year process when their official enrollment belongs to your school.

  • For students continuing next year:

The Next Year Process identifies next year enrollment based on the student’s Next School setting in PowerSchool. If you see a discrepancy and know a student will continue at your school next year, please use the Scheduling Setup page to update the Next School to your school and enter the reason for the change.

  • For students not continuing next year:

If you know a student will not be continuing next year, please DO NOT Transfer Out/Drop the student. Use the Scheduling Setup page to update the Next School to Not continuing next year and enter the reason for the change. Please review our video tutorial for guidance: Not Continuing Next Year (1:45)

  • Pre-registering NEW to the district OR Inactive returning students for 2025-26 requires special attention to the year of enrollment.

Please verify you are in the correct term and set the entry date for the first day of school next year accordingly. Avoid creating a duplicate student ID by verifying students do not have prior enrollments in our district
